I've been under this consultant since 2015. In 2021 pain was getting worse and he confirmed I needed a hip replacement. I was terrified of having just sedation. But it was marvellous and definitely aided my recovery. As soon as I came round from the operation I was thrilled with the work he had done. When he visited the next day I was not shy in praising him. The scar was so neat and tidy and healed within weeks. 3 months on and I'm even more pleased with the results as pain has gone. He listened, answered any questions I had, but was to the point, no flannel and just got the job done excellently. Would 100% recommend him.

I first seen Mr Westerman around two and a half years ago, with pain in my left knee. He quickly identified that this was being caused by wear in my right hip and helped me adjust my lifestyle to minimise the impact and pain this was causing. Over the time I have been being treated I have constantly felt both informed and in control and have always felt comfortable with the decisions and advice I have been given. In September 2021 it was decided that there was no other option other than to undertake a total hip replacement. At this point the information and care I received was second to none. I was apprehensive about elements of the procedure, however the information available and support from Mr Westerman and his team both helped me to relax and understand in detail exactly what could be expected and played a huge part in easing my concerns. The procedure itself was exactly as described and the care I received both whilst in hospital and since the surgery (now just over six weeks ago) has been exemplary and without question ensured that I was always as comfortable as possible and supported a strong and quick recovery. I would not have the slightest doubt in recommending to anyone that requires a similar procedure to contact Mr Westerman for their treatment.

I had a hip replacement operation at BMI Meriden Hospital in Coventry in May. The surgeon was Mr Richard Westerman. From my first consultation I was impressed by Mr Westerman who listened to and answered questions clearly. He described the procedure fully, including both positive and negative information. Best of all, my recovery after the operation was remarkably quick and by the time I saw him six weeks later I was able to walk with no crutches or sticks and no limp.

Mr Westerman was able to see me quickly and I was immediately taken by his friendly, caring manner. He agreed that the only option was total right knee replacement.I had my surgery via spinal anaesthesia & spent 2 nights in hospital. I cannot recommend this wonderful consultant and his team highly enough. I’m definitely on the way to getting my life back . My only regret is waiting so long in pain but am truly thankful for the expertise and care of Mr Westerman.
